Bicycle Industry Buy Out Frenzy
Mar 04, 2008, 05:08 PM

Just weeks after Dorel, a publicly traded company in Canada and owner of Pacific Cycles in the U.S,
buys Cannondale and Sugoi for approximately $200 million. It’s a purchase with potential if Dorel has
the patience to execute long-term.

* Shimano American launches a surprise purchase of Pearl Izumi for $69.5 million,
snatching it from financially troubled fitness supplier, Nautilus, Inc.
Shimano paid less for Pearl than Nautilus paid three years ago

* Selle Italia, perhaps benefiting from a strong euro, snaps up Crank Brothers for an undisclosed sum,
and inherits beachfront digs in Laguna Beach, California I don't get this one.

* Fox Racing Shox, with sales last year of approximately $100 million, sells 76 percent of the company to Compass Diversified Holdings, which is traded on NASDQ under CODI
